![]() ![]() ![]() But, early in my career, I spent a few years co-hosting an MCLA podcast and editing a weekly MCLA column, and now I spend a good portion of my days trying to sell advertising to brands that want to appeal to lacrosse players who buy their own gear - who are disproportionately club lacrosse players. To put it simply, I think I’m probably rightfully thought of as a varsity lacrosse guy because I spend most of my time time on things like this column, covering DI games, reporting on DI news and evaluating players at recruiting events that are primarily attended by NCAA coaches. It also prompted me to reflect on the role of club lacrosse. It was an honor to be invited and felt really special to share my thoughts around the future of the game with a group of people who’d been driving forward on the sport’s frontier for five decades. To start the show, I discussed my weekend in Morgantown, W.V., where I was invited to deliver the keynote at an event celebrating the career of Jeff Dreisbach and the 53rd season of the West Virginia men’s lacrosse club team. Unlike earlier this month, I’m able to get it out a day late (with only one game having been played since my vote - Brown’s win over Villanova - which calls out another consideration how crazy is it to have a Tuesday without a men’s DI game?!) and I even came with a good hook: Midseason Week!īefore diving into this week’s Top 20, looking at each team through the lens of my preseason expectations for them, please check out this week’s Tailgate podcast with Nick Ossello. Once again, weekend travel made it tough to get this piece out on time.
